Tenaga Nasional Berhad Through Its Subsidiary GSPARX Signs Agreement With Aeon For Solar PV Installations

Tenaga Nasional Bhd and its wholly owned subsidiary GSPARX Sdn Bhd signed a Supply Agreement for Renewable Energy with Aeon Company (M) Bhd for the installation of Solar Photovoltaics at all Aeon Malls and Aeon BiG outlets. across Malaysia.

GSPARX has agreed to install and maintain for 25 years a PV system with a peak power of 77,000 kilowatts (kWp).

Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan, TNB’s chief strategy and ventures officer said that the Aeon initiative is expected to last until next year.

TNB will pay for the installation of each PV site, which costs between RM3 and RM4 million. This is part of TNB’s social responsibility to the environment as well as its efforts to encourage its clients to take part in its RE initiatives so that it can reach the net zero goal by 2050.

After the signing ceremony, he told journalists that this initiative would help Aeon self-generate its electricity, and save up to 30%.

He added, “The big malls will be the focus so Aeon’s customers can benefit faster.”

Tsugutoshi Seko, Aeon Company’s deputy managing director said that the first installation of this project, consisting of 1,513 kWp PV solar panels on the roof and the ground-level open-air parking, was completed at Alpha Angle Mall, Wangsa Maju in October last year.

This year, the first phase of PV installation at Aeon Malls will take place.

Seko said, “We view this as an excellent opportunity to promote energy-saving measures and create a more sustainable future.”
