Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has achieved a significant milestone in rooftop solar power generation in the Pune circle. A total of 10,170 solar power projects with a combined capacity of 253.94 MW have been successfully implemented. This achievement can be attributed to the overwhelming response from various customers, including individuals, societies, and commercial and industrial establishments.
Out of the implemented projects, domestic solar projects from 7,580 customers account for 72 MW, while another 3,580 projects with a capacity of 96.79 MW are currently in progress. To support the implementation of rooftop solar power systems, the central government offers subsidies of up to 40 percent for domestic customers of Mahavitaran, the distribution arm of MSEDCL. The subsidy scheme provides financial incentives based on the capacity of the solar power system.
The promotion of solar power generation projects and specialized training for engineers and technical workers have played a crucial role in the growth of rooftop solar projects in Pune.
Overall, this achievement underscores the commitment to renewable energy and encourages individuals and organizations to embrace solar power for both financial savings and environmental protection.
