BayWa r.e. Solar Trade Announces New Appointments

BayWa r.e. Solar Trade announced three new appointments that will contribute to the company’s ongoing efforts to promote renewable energy usage and make a meaningful contribution to combating climate change.

Starting from June 1, Alexander Schütt will assume the role of Regional Director, Solar Trade EMEA. Joining him are Friedhelm Enslin and Michael Harre, who will serve as Managing Directors of BayWa r.e. Solar Energy Systems GmbH and bring a combined industry experience of over 40 years.

Alexander has spent 15 years at BayWa r.e. Solar Trade, including a decade as the Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Solar Energy Systems GmbH in Germany. Under his guidance, the Polish and Austrian sales offices started functioning as independent entities, and he successfully oversaw the establishment of novotegra GmbH as an autonomous mounting system manufacturer. Furthermore, he played a critical role in acquiring a PV wholesaler in Latvia and establishing a new legal entity in Greece.

During Alexander’s tenure as Managing Director, revenues grew 6x, the number of employees quadrupled, and the sales volume of modules in MW also experienced a significant boost.

Friedhelm Enslin started his renewable energy career in 1999 by joining Solarstrom AG, a spin-off of Solarfabrik in Freiburg. His key focus was helping the company with its primary goal of building rooftop PV projects. Within three years, he oversaw the installation of 4 MW of PV systems, a significant number at the time.

Subsequently, Friedhelm worked with GIZ in the Caribbean before returning to Germany, where he started working with MHH Solartechnik. Initially serving as a sales manager, he was appointed Head of Sales in 2015.

Before joining BayWa r.e. Solar Trade, Michael Harre worked in various sales and marketing positions with LG Electronics, SCHOTT Solar AG, and SCHOTT AG. In the late 1990s, he worked for glass manufacturer SCHOTT AG and played a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities. He recognized the potential of photovoltaics and successfully set up and built SCHOTT’s solar business. He also served as Chief Sales Officer for over eight years. In 2011, he joined as the Vice President of EU Solar Business Group for LG Electronics. In 2021, he joined BayWa r.e. as Managing Director of novotegra GmbH.

Frank Jessel, Global Director Solar Trade, commented: “Alexander has an outstanding track record in delivering results and always had a good sense for expansion opportunities. In addition, he is a great leader and drives our company culture, so he is the best fit for this new position.”
