Assystem To Conduct Pre-Development Studies For Solar Parks In NEOM’s Ambitious Renewable Energy Vision

International engineering, digital, and project management services company Assystem has been selected by NEOM to undertake a series of pre-development studies for seven solar photovoltaic parks in the Tabuk and Duba regions. The appointment signifies NEOM’s commitment to realizing its vision of establishing the world’s most advanced renewable energy hub, characterized by a fully renewable electrical system at scale.

Assystem will leverage its extensive expertise by deploying a team of experts to deliver a comprehensive range of services for solar park projects. These services include conducting a site assessment study, formulating preliminary designs and master plans for the parks, conducting environmental baseline surveys, performing environmental and social impact assessments, and undertaking permitting studies. The scope of work also encompasses various assessments such as geotechnical, geophysical, topographical, hydrological, glint and glare, and corrosion studies, as well as energy yield calculations and advanced park designs.

The designated sites for the solar parks cover a vast area of 420 km2, with the potential to generate over 20 GW of energy capacity, occupying approximately 65% of the land. Solar photovoltaic technology plays a pivotal role in global efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and is projected to account for the largest share of power generation capacity by 2027, as highlighted by the International Energy Agency.

As a key player in the global energy transition, Assystem is committed to supporting the deployment of low-carbon technologies. With over 6,500 experts operating in 12 countries, the company is dedicated to assisting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in achieving its emission reduction target of 278 MtCO2e annually from 2020 to 2030.
