KOPETRO, along with its subsidiary KOPETRO Trading Sdn. Bhd. has established a significant collaboration with Gading Kencana Sdn Bhd, a renowned company specializing in renewable energy solutions in Malaysia. The partnership was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony held at The Everly Hotel.
Gading Kencana, established in 1993, has rapidly expanded its presence in the market, offering solar lights, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, energy audits, environmental consulting, large-scale solar farm development, mini hydro power plants, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Roslan Abdul Rahim, the Chairman of KOPETRO, highlighted that the partnership with innovative firms in the renewable energy industry seeks to encourage the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable energy alternatives, specifically focusing on solar power. This aligns with global efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change and transition to renewable energy sources.
Through this partnership, Gading Kencana’s expertise as a renewable energy specialist will support KOPETRO in promoting the Net Energy Metering (NEM) 3.0 initiative in Malaysia, specifically through the Solar Rakyat product brand offered to cooperative members. The MoU signing aims to raise awareness and facilitate the installation of solar PV systems among KOPETRO members.
At the event, Wan Ahmad Tarmizi Wan Abd Rahman, the Chairman of KOPETRO Trading Sdn. Bhd. conducted the exchange of the MoU agreement with Dato’ Ir. Muhamad Guntor Mansor Tobeng, who serves as the Managing Director of Gading Kencana. The partnership enables over 15,000 KOPETRO cooperative members to access facilities for installing solar PV systems, promoting the adoption of solar energy and reducing dependence on traditional electricity sources.
