Grid controls provider PXiSE Energy Solutions today announced its Microgrid Controller has been selected by Rove, a full-service charging center operator in Southern California, to manage power flow at Rove’s centers which will start opening later this year.
Rove, the full-service charging center operator in Southern California, has implemented a forward-thinking approach by integrating battery storage and onsite solar systems. This innovative setup enables uninterrupted charging for electric vehicles (EVs) during grid power outages for extended periods. PXiSE’s Microgrid Controller plays a pivotal role in enabling and autonomously managing this feature, ensuring seamless power supply and enhancing the reliability of Rove’s charging centers.
Tim Allen, the President & CEO of PXiSE, expressed enthusiasm for collaborations like the one with Rove, a clean energy developer. He emphasized the significant potential that arises when PXiSE’s configurable products are adopted by such companies. According to Allen, customers understand the value of PXiSE’s software in streamlining control and management of various distributed energy resources, including solar PV, batteries, and electric vehicle charging. By unifying and automating these processes, PXiSE’s solutions help eliminate complexity for clean energy developers, making their operations more efficient and effective.
Nathan McDonnell, the CEO of Rove, expressed gratitude towards the PXiSE team for their dedication in enhancing the EV charging experience in Southern California. McDonnell highlighted the significance of the advanced controller provided by PXiSE, as it empowers Rove to effectively utilize renewable energy from the California grid along with their onsite solar infrastructure. This integration enables Rove to offer more affordable, sustainable, and dependable charging services to their customers, marking a significant step forward in their commitment to an improved EV charging experience.
Running patented technology, the PXiSE Microgrid Controller provides an advanced, adaptable, and reliable software-based solution that supports a diversity of site resources, loads, and use cases. For Rove’s centers, it will manage the point of interconnection with the utility to a net-zero export while also managing the facility’s generation capability. While the first of Rove’s sites will see PXiSE’s controller deployed in Southern California, the advanced Microgrid Controller can readily be deployed worldwide, wherever a complex microgrid is needed
