The company’s expansion into the APAC market has been a crucial aspect of its ambition to establish itself as a leading developer of renewable energy projects worldwide. Over the course of just over five years, Lightsource bp has achieved remarkable milestones in the region, including originating a multi-gigawatt regional development pipeline, hiring over 60 talented employees, and establishing its APAC hub in Singapore. Presently, the company is actively pursuing business growth opportunities in both Taiwan and South Korea.

One of the notable hires is Bin Fu, who assumes the role of Regional Head for Taiwan. With an impressive 13-year track record in the renewable energy sector, particularly in Japan, China, and Taiwan, Bin Fu brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Lightsource bp. Throughout his highly successful career, Bin has held pivotal management roles in M&A, origination, development, construction, and operation. He has played a key role in the development of over 500MW solar projects across Asia, as well as actively participating in the successful acquisition of an EPC company in Japan and temporarily serving as the interim CEO during the acquisition of an O&M company in Japan. Bin’s appointment reflects Lightsource bp’s unwavering commitment to harnessing the growth potential of Taiwan and supporting the company’s goal to financially close its first project in the country by 2023.

Another significant addition to the team is Jean-Philippe Baudrey, who now serves as the Head of Business Development for South Korea. With a unique background as a dual French and Portuguese national, Jean-Philippe has a longstanding connection to South Korea, having worked closely with the Central Government for the past two decades. His expertise extends to advising on matters related to renewable portfolio standards, green growth, and strategic partnerships involving smart grids, nuclear, and wind energy. Throughout his successful career, Jean-Philippe has played a pivotal role in various renewable project developments, supporting the acquisition of Korea Floating Wind and East Blue Power projects, culminating in the establishment of an impressive 3.2GW offshore wind portfolio.

Adam Pegg, the Managing Director of APAC, expressed his enthusiasm for these new appointments, stating, “The addition of Bin Fu and Jean-Philippe Baudrey further strengthens our senior management team in APAC. With their extensive experience and track record of success, we are well-positioned to expand our operations, capitalize on growth opportunities, and drive the transition to clean energy in APAC.
