The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi has taken a momentous step towards sustainable energy solutions by signing an agreement with the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA). The collaboration aims to initiate a comprehensive technical assessment of the AIIMS campus for a potential conversion to a solar-powered facility.

According to an official statement, IREDA will conduct a detailed techno-commercial assessment of the AIIMS campus to evaluate its suitability for solar energy adoption. As part of the agreement, a nine-kilowatt rooftop solar plant was inaugurated at the AIIMS New Delhi campus on Tuesday.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AIIMS and IREDA outlines the scope of the evaluation, which includes the creation of financial models, pre-feasibility studies, and preparation of a detailed project report (DPR). Additionally, IREDA will provide valuable assistance in analyzing technical and commercial aspects related to project development, finalizing commercial and contracting arrangements, and defining performance indicators.

By venturing into this partnership and implementing solar power projects, AIIMS aims to achieve significant reductions in electricity expenditure while simultaneously minimizing its carbon footprint, bolstered by IREDA’s expertise in renewable energy.
