UNILIN (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has forged a groundbreaking alliance with GSPARX Sdn Bhd (GSPARX), a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) specializing in renewable energy solutions. This momentous partnership represents a remarkable achievement, as UNILIN now emerges as the leading player in Kedah’s interior design and construction industry to embrace solar systems integration.
In a strategic collaboration, GSPARX, together with clean energy partner Solarvest Holdings Berhad, has successfully completed the installation of solar panels on UNILIN’s manufacturing plant rooftop in Sungai Petani. This innovative initiative now generates an impressive 2,830.73 kilowatts peak (kWp) of solar capacity, enabling the avoidance of 1,348 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions annually. This reduction is equivalent to planting 20,393 saplings over a decade or removing the carbon emissions from 274 vehicles annually, contributing significantly to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.
Under a 15-year Supply Agreement for Renewable Energy (SARE) agreement, the solar PV installations are projected to yield substantial benefits, with estimated savings of RM11.02 million over the duration of the agreement.
UNILIN is driven by a vision of a sustainable future, encompassing three crucial dimensions: Planet Home, Your Home, and Our Home. Embracing ambitious goals, all UNILIN Group facilities aim to achieve net zero status by 2025, becoming climate and CO2 neutral. At present, 43% of our energy needs are met by renewable sources, and we are steadfastly committed to further investments and initiatives that will enable us to generate an even greater share of Green Energy from our own facilities. This resolute commitment aligns seamlessly with the sustainability development goals we embrace.
