SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited, has recently entered into significant Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). These agreements encompass two solar projects, one with a capacity of 200 MW and the other with a capacity of 1,000 MW.
Under the terms of these agreements, SJVN Green Energy is tasked with the development of the solar projects, each to be established on a Build Own and Operate basis.
The projects are anticipated to be completed within a span of 18 months, involving a substantial investment of approximately ₹7,000 crores. The receipt of the Letter of Intent from PSPCL for these combined 1,200 MW solar projects on July 21, 2023, marks a significant milestone.
Upon successful execution, these projects are projected to collectively generate around 2,997 million units in their first year of operation. Over a period of 25 years, the cumulative energy generation is estimated to reach approximately 69,661 million units. Importantly, these projects are set to have a substantial positive impact on environmental sustainability.
It is anticipated that the commissioning of these solar facilities will contribute to a reduction of over 34 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions, aligning with the broader goals of clean energy adoption and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
