PVH Inks Deal with CEEC to Supply 1.7GW for Middle East’s Largest Solar Project

PVH, a top-ranking solar tracker manufacturer in the Middle East, has inked a deal with China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CEEC) to furnish 1.7 GW for the MENA region’s largest solar project. Positioned within Jeddah City’s Al Shuaibah area in the Makkah Province of Saudi Arabia, this project will strengthen the Kingdom’s accomplishments toward realizing its “Vision 2030” – a drive to curtail fossil fuel usage and steer the world toward an eco-friendly energy paradigm.

Dedicated to environmental preservation, Saudi Arabia has meticulously crafted a strategy to achieve 50% of its energy output from renewable sources by the decade’s end. Actively propelling the regional energy transition, the government is actively working towards building a  comprehensive pipeline of 27.3 GW of renewable energy initiatives. Notably, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) envisions developing 70% of the nation’s renewable energy capacity by 2030, showcasing an investment of around SR1.5 trillion ($400 billion) in alternative energy since 2016.

The Al Shuaibah project represents a substantial commitment, amounting to SR8.3 billion ($2.2 billion) over two phases. This initiative features a 2 GW solar photovoltaic plant, poised to inaugurate commercial operations by Q4 2025. 
“Al Shuaibah is a very important project for PVH to showcase our expertise with product engineering and resilient design adapting to a projected lifetime of 35 years. This project is a benchmark to commemorate PVH’s local content strength in delivering large scale projects”, said Youssef El Sayed, CEO of PVH Middle East.

Having already supplied in excess of 10 GW in the Middle East, PVH’s presence in the region is continually expanding. This project serves to further fortify the company’s position through its collaborations with ACWA Power and CEEC. “Our bond with both ACWA and CEEC is further strengthened with this collaboration. Our portfolio continues to grow as we supply with the fastest turnaround and highest quality through our own manufacturing facility in Jeddah”.

During a visit to the PVH Saudi factory, Mr. Mohammad A. Abunayyan, Chairman of ACWA Power noted,  “PVH and ACWA Power have a synergy since the beginning of working together in mega scale projects. This is yet another example of our ambitious partnership to keep growing in scale and innovation.”
