Iraq has achieved a significant milestone in its project to interconnect with Jordan by completing the construction of a critical 132/33KV Extra High Voltage substation.
Imad Mishaal Al-Dulaimi, the District Commissioner of Al-Rutba District in Anbar governorate, confirmed the successful conclusion of the technical aspects of the interconnection project from Iraq’s side.
This project, located in Iraq’s Anbar governorate, is expected to begin operations by the end of August. It aims to address persistent power outages that have long affected the Al-Rutba district.
Initially, Jordan will supply 50 megawatts (MW) of electricity to Iraq as part of Phase 1, with the overall project ultimately reaching a substantial capacity of 150MW.
