HAREDA Awards ₹358 Crore Contract For 7,781 Pumps In KUSUM-3 Scheme

In a significant development in the renewable energy sector, Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has secured its maiden work order under the KUSUM-3 scheme, receiving a substantial contract from the Haryana Renewable Energy Department (HAREDA). The contract involves the procurement of 7,781 pumps and is valued at approximately ₹358 Crores, including GST. This achievement underscores Shakti Pumps’ growing influence in the renewable energy sector, both in Haryana and across India.

HAREDA’s decision to award this contract to Shakti Pumps is in alignment with the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) initiative, introduced in 2019. PM-KUSUM set an ambitious goal of increasing India’s solar capacity by 30,800 MW by 2022, backed by substantial central financial support totaling ₹34,422 crore, which included service charges for implementing agencies.

PM-KUSUM operates through three distinct components, each playing a crucial role in India’s journey towards renewable energy sustainability.

Component A: This component focuses on the installation of 10,000 MW of solar capacity through the establishment of small power plants with capacities of up to 2 MW. This initiative contributes significantly to India’s solar energy generation capabilities.

Component B: The HAREDA order to Shakti Pumps falls under this component, dedicated to the deployment of 20 lakh standalone solar-powered agriculture pumps. These pumps are a game-changer in transforming agricultural practices by providing farmers with reliable and sustainable energy sources.
