L&T Power Transmission & Distribution’s Digital Energy Solutions (DES) division has expanded its presence significantly in India, the Middle East, and North America, making notable strides in the energy sector.

In India, the company is engaged in a crucial project to upgrade Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in the National and Regional Transmission Asset Management Centers. These centers oversee one of the world’s largest networks of substations and transmission lines, offering real-time monitoring, asset visualization, anomaly detection, efficient coordination, advanced analytics, and streamlined operations. The upgrade involves deploying systems like Transmission Remote Access System (TRAS), Automatic Fault Analysis System (AFAS), and Power Transmission Asset Cybersecurity Solution (PTACS) alongside existing infrastructure.

Additionally, L&T’s DES division has secured orders for Advanced Distribution Management Systems in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, enhancing grid management capabilities.

In North America, the company is actively involved in clean energy integration, utility operations, and grid research projects. This includes providing “Balancing Authority” control services for a California-based clean energy producer, encompassing day-ahead, real-time, and post-event monitoring and compliance services, aligned with NERC standards.

Furthermore, the company is engaged in research and development projects in partnership with the California Energy Commission (CEC) and the US Department of Energy (DoE). These projects involve advancements in bi-directional inverter controls for Vehicle to Grid energy management and the formulation of an Energy Grid Resilience Framework to facilitate transactive energy collaboration between utilities and communities in the USA.

L&T Power T&D’s DES business has also undertaken international projects, including the integration of generation plants with utility T&D control rooms in the Middle East.

These developments underscore the DES business’s commitment to delivering advanced technology integration solutions for utility operations, both in front-of-meter (IFM) and behind-the-meter (BTM). Their offerings are anchored around L&T-Spark™, a cutting-edge technology integration platform designed to work seamlessly with leading OEM’s EMS-DMS products, facilitating efficient utility grid control room operations.
