SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited, has made a significant development in the renewable energy sector. The company successfully participated in a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) for the establishment of a Solar Power Project in the state of Rajasthan. On the 6th of October, 2023, SJVN Green Energy Limited was awarded the Letter of Award (LoA) for this prestigious project. The tariff for the project is set at โน2.62 per unit. This endeavor entails the development of a 100 MW Solar Power Project, with the flexibility to be located anywhere within the state of Rajasthan.
The Solar Power Project will be developed under the Build Own and Operate (BOO) model, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to the project’s lifecycle. The approximate construction and development cost of this venture is estimated at โน600 Crores.
This endeavor aligns with environmental conservation goals. It is anticipated that the completed project will lead to a substantial reduction in carbon emissions, estimated at 287,434 tonnes. This aligns with the Government of India’s mission to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.
Upon completion, this Solar Power Project is expected to generate approximately 252 million units (MUs) in its first year of operation. Over a 25-year period, it is projected to produce a cumulative energy generation of about 5,866 MUs, making a significant contribution to the region’s energy needs.
In accordance with the Request for Selection (RfS) guidelines, the Solar Power Project is slated to be commissioned within 18 months from the date of signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The PPA will be executed between Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) and SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) for a duration of 25 years.
This landmark achievement by SJVN Green Energy Limited reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its pivotal role in advancing India’s renewable energy landscape. The successful bidding process and the subsequent award of the LoA mark a significant step forward in the realization of this ambitious Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.
