HE Saeed Al Tayer Discusses Strategic Cooperation In Clean And Renewable Energy With Indonesia’s Ambassador To The UAE

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), hosted a visit by HE Husin Bagis, Indonesia’s Ambassador to the UAE, and Natalia Rialucky Marsudi, CEO of FairAtmos. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the exchange of global best practices and experiences in decarbonizing energy systems to support climate action, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and achieve net-zero objectives.

During the meeting, Al Tayer emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and strengthening economic, trade, and investment relations, particularly in sectors of common interest. Both sides explored potential areas of strategic cooperation and the role of Indonesian organizations and companies in renewable and clean energy, water, and sustainability, all of which are pivotal sectors in both the UAE and Indonesia.

Al Tayer also highlighted DEWA’s key projects and initiatives aimed at supporting the vision of sustainable energy development while preserving the environment. He mentioned DEWA’s adoption of the IPWP model to promote public-private partnerships, which has resulted in achieving highly competitive prices in clean energy projects.

Furthermore, Al Tayer underlined Dubai’s efforts to achieve net-zero emissions in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. DEWA’s initiatives have already led to a 19% reduction in net carbon emissions in Dubai by 2022. Notably, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world, is a significant project in DEWA’s clean energy portfolio.

The Indonesian Ambassador highlighted the importance of fostering trade, investment, and knowledge exchange between Indonesia and the UAE. He recognized the substantial potential for cooperation, partnerships, and investment opportunities between Indonesian companies and DEWA. The Indonesian side also expressed interest in participating in DEWA’s pioneering clean and renewable energy projects and commended DEWA’s dedication to advancing clean and renewable energy solutions.
