In a recent development, the Ministry has introduced significant reforms in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers for Solar Photovoltaic Modules through its Office Memorandum dated 10.05.2023. The reforms outline stringent criteria for enlistment, emphasizing compliance with BIS Standards and specifying minimum module efficiency requirements.
Under the updated guidelines, Category I, encompassing Utility/Grid scale power plants, mandates a minimum module efficiency of 20.0% for eligibility under ALMM. For Category II, which includes Rooftop and Solar pumping, and Category III, covering solar lighting, the stipulated minimum module efficiencies are 19.5% and 19.0%, respectively.
Effective May 10, 2023, only models of Solar PV Modules with an efficiency equal to or greater than 19.00% have been considered for enlistment under ALMM List-1. The revision, labeled as Revision-XIX, is a follow-up to the ALMM Order, 2019, with the latest update dated October 27, 2023.
The Ministry underscores that the enlistment validity is contingent on having a valid BIS Registration, and failure to comply will result in automatic delisting. The comprehensive details of provisional enlistments granted by MNRE in ALMM List-I can be found in the pages following Annexure-1.
This crucial update, approved by the competent authority, reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality and efficiency of solar photovoltaic modules in line with BIS Standards, furthering the nation’s sustainable energy agenda.
