Regional energy firm, Three Eight Six, is gearing up to increase its green fuel capacity using solar energy assets in the GCC. The company is actively supporting businesses and government entities in harnessing solar power, with flagship projects in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Three Eight Six is at the forefront of the transition toward renewable power production and efficient consumption in the region. Functioning as an energy company, it constructs, owns, and operates photovoltaic (PV) assets, aiding commercial, industrial, and small to mid-utility scale sectors in their shift to green energy. The company aims to reduce operating costs for businesses and provide cost predictability for up to 30 years.
As the UAE prepares for COP 28, Three Eight Six Chairman, Ahmad Al Khayyat, encourages organizations to reassess their renewable energy strategies. Al Khayyat emphasizes the critical role of high-energy usage businesses in diversifying the energy mix and expanding renewable energy capacity by 2030. The company envisions expanding its presence in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, and across the region, providing practical support for the urgent need for cleaner power sources.
Backed by an international team of solar experts with a collective experience of over 11 GW globally, Three Eight Six has developed a diverse portfolio of projects across the GCC. Having completed the first ground-mounted and rooftop mix project in Saudi Arabia, the company continues its expansion in the country for the implementation of solar PV projects.
Daniel Pedroso, Chief Commercial Officer at Three Eight Six, highlights the immense potential of solar PV power in the region, citing the abundance of sunlight as a significant and cost-effective contributor to clean energy targets. The company’s approach focuses on tailoring solutions, fostering long-term collaborations, and positively impacting both communities and business operations.
Pedroso emphasizes the economic and environmental sustainability of the Three Eight Six’s model, creating local jobs during the construction process and collaborating with local partners for strategic planning. The company actively engages with local suppliers, consultants, and EPCs to stimulate private sector growth and support localization efforts.
To further drive the transition to solar PV power production, Three Eight Six is participating in the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology pavilion at COP28. Al Khayyat anticipates that COP28 will be a pivotal event in shaping progress toward net zero in the region and internationally. The company looks forward to contributing to the capacity expansion for solar power and working in partnership to achieve the critical transition to green energy.
