Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited has secured a Letter of Award (LOA) for a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in collaboration with SJVN Limited (SJVN), a key public sector player in hydroelectric and renewable power. Designated as the Renewable Energy Implementing Agency (REIA) by MNRE, SJVN is crucial to achieving the nation’s 500 GW target by 2030.
To fulfill the 200 MW FDRE requirement, the plant integrates solar, wind, and battery storage, ensuring dispatchability during peak hours for grid stability. FDRE facilitates uninterrupted power supply, aiding discoms in meeting Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) and Energy Storage Obligation (ESO). TPREL’s success in this FDRE tender underscores its commitment to reliable and sustainable energy solutions. The tender includes a Greenshoe option for additional capacity.
The collaboration with SJVN marks a pivotal milestone in TPREL’s portfolio expansion, contributing to national sustainable energy goals. Commissioning is expected within 24 months from the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution. Secured through competitive bidding and reverse e-auction, the project will annually offset approximately 9 lakh metric tonnes of CO2 emissions. This win elevates TPREL’s total renewables capacity to 8,314 MW, encompassing 4,100 MW in development phases and an operational capacity of 4,214 MW, including 3,200 MW in solar and 1,014 MW in wind projects.
