GreenH Electrolysis, a collaboration between H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and GR Promoter Group, has confirmed its engagement with Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd. to construct a hydrogen production and refueling station in Jind, Haryana. This facility aims to supply hydrogen to power India’s inaugural hydrogen train, initiated under Indian Railways’ esteemed “Hydrogen for Heritage” program.

Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd. secured a contract from Indian Railways for a pilot initiative to convert the Diesel Electric Multiple Unit rake, operating on the Sonipat-Jind route, from diesel to a hydrogen-powered locomotive. This project is a pivotal step towards Indian Railways’ objective of achieving net-zero emissions. GreenH has been enlisted by Medha to oversee the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of the hydrogen production and refueling station, an essential component of this groundbreaking endeavor.

The hydrogen station will source necessary equipment from GreenH’s newly established PEM electrolyzer manufacturing plant situated in Jhajjar District, Haryana. The envisioned station plans to implement a comprehensive system capable of both hydrogen production and daily train refueling. To initiate the initial phase, GreenH will deploy a 1 MW electrolyzer expected to yield approximately 420 kg/day of hydrogen, operating continuously. The refueling infrastructure is anticipated to include 3,000 kg hydrogen storage, hydrogen compressors, and two hydrogen dispensers equipped with pre-cooler integration, facilitating swift refueling for the trains along their daily routes.

This turn-key solution will encompass various technical disciplines such as process, electrical, instrumentation and control, safety measures, among others. Additionally, GreenH commits to extending comprehensive support to the end user through a Long-term Service Agreement, ensuring seamless operation and maintenance.

Expressing enthusiasm about this collaboration, Mr. Dhiman Roy, CEO and Director of GreenH Electrolysis Pvt. Ltd., emphasized their commitment to revolutionizing the country’s transport sector and contributing to India’s green hydrogen plans.

Mr. Kasyap Reddy, Managing Director of Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd., echoed similar sentiments, affirming GreenH’s technical expertise and globally proven green hydrogen technology as pivotal for the success of this critical project.

Indian Railways’ visionary blueprint includes operating thirty-five hydrogen trains as part of the “Hydrogen for Heritage” initiative. The inaugural hydrogen-powered train, set to operate between Jind and Sonipat, is slated to commence operations next year, marking India’s entry into the league of nations investing in cutting-edge transport technologies.
