NTPC’s Coal Mining Ventures Earn Prestigious Star Rating Awards for Sustainable Mining Excellence

NTPC’s Dulanga Coal Mining Project in Odisha and Talaipalli Coal Mining Project in Chhattisgarh were honored with Star Rating Awards in the Opencast mines category at the Ministry of Coal’s Annual Star Rating of Coal Mines Awards.

This recognition is a testament to their unwavering dedication to employing top-tier mining methods and environmental standards, prioritizing sustainable mining practices.

Dulanga Coal Mining secured the Star Rating (3rd rank) for Opencast mines consistently over the years 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22. Similarly, Talaipalli Coal Mining Project achieved the Star Rating (Achievers Rank) in the Opencast category for the year 2019-20.

Shri Shivam Srivastava, Director (Fuel), and Shri Animesh Jain, CEO of NML, accepted these awards from Shri Pralhad Joshi, the Hon’ble Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, during the prestigious Annual Star Rating of Coal Mines award ceremony held on December 20th in Delhi.

NTPC’s strategic vision involves shaping all its mines into “Model Mines” by embracing cutting-edge technological practices, leveraging digital tools for operational efficiency, striving for a ‘Zero Incident potential,’ fostering eco-friendly practices, and establishing industry benchmarks.
