Addressing the nation’s rising energy demand, the plant is in line with Mexico’s plans to double renewable capacity by 2030, increasing solar and wind capacity from 15 GW to 40 GW.

The Topolobampo III power plant employs two 7HA.01 gas turbines and a D650 steam turbine from GE Vernova, along with three H53 generators and advanced plant control systems featuring GE Vernova’s integrated Mark* VIe Distributed Control System (DCS). This setup enables the utilization of real-time data for enhanced outcomes, ensuring stable and efficient operations. The comprehensive package is designed to enhance Iberdrola’s asset visibility, reliability, and availability, while simultaneously reducing operating and maintenance costs. The two Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) were provided by CERREY, the local licensee for GE Vernova’s HRSG technology.
