In a significant development in India’s renewable energy landscape, Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals, ACME Cleantech Solutions, Greenko ZeroC, HHP Two, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation emerged as successful bidders in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) tender. The tender aimed at establishing production facilities for green hydrogen, boasting an annual capacity of 450,000 metric tons.

SECI invited proposals under two distinct categories: Technology Agnostic Pathways bucket (Bucket I) and Biomass-based Pathways bucket (Bucket II). The green hydrogen production capacity is distributed with 410,000 MT/year under Bucket I and 40,000 MT/year under Bucket II.

Reliance, Greenko, and ACME secured 90,000 MT of capacity each under Bucket I, with respective average incentives of โ‚น18.9/kg, โ‚น30/kg, and โ‚น30/kg. Hygenco, with a winning capacity of 75,000 MT, received an average incentive of โ‚น25.04/kg. Other notable winners include Torrent Power, Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) Projects, Welspun New Energy (Welspun), UPL, and JSW Neo Energy.

SECI’s Tranche-I of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program initiated the tender in July. The winning bidders are mandated to establish green hydrogen production facilities on a thousand metric tons scale, with a requirement to commence operations within 30 months of receiving the award letter. The three-year incentive proposed by the companies formed the basis for the average incentives granted.
