DEWA Advances Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Partnerships Under Net Zero 2050 Strategy

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), held high-level discussions with Robert Hertzberg, Senior Fellow at the Mission Possible Partnership and board member of First Public Hydrogen, alongside a delegation from the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), to explore collaboration in sustainable energy and innovation.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in research and development, technological innovation and capacity building across priority areas including smart grids, renewable energy, energy storage, network modernisation, energy efficiency, cyber security, photovoltaic system integration and advanced data analytics.

The discussions also examined opportunities for specialised training programmes aimed at enhancing technical expertise and accelerating knowledge exchange in support of the global energy transition.

The meeting was attended by Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and Ghanim Alqassim, Senior Manager – Solar Energy at DEWA.

Al Tayer reaffirmed DEWA’s commitment to collaborating with leading international organisations to enhance national capabilities, empower professionals and advance sustainable energy solutions. He noted that such partnerships align with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, supporting Dubai’s broader objectives on digital transformation, climate action and long-term energy sustainability.
