ACWA Power, a leading Saudi-listed company known for water desalination and a pioneering force in green hydrogen, declared that it obtained the Commercial Operation certification from the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) for the third group of the Sudair solar photovoltaic Independent Power Plant (IPP) project, constituting the final 25% of the total 1.5-gigawatt capacity.

The achievement of full commercial operation follows the earlier operationalization of 75% of the project in October 2023 when the second group received its Commercial Operation certificate.

Recently, ACWA Power formalized a monumental agreement to develop a Green Hydrogen project in Egypt. The project, valued at over $4 billion, is set to initiate the first phase focusing on producing 600,000 tonnes per year of green ammonia, with plans for a subsequent phase that could scale up to a staggering capacity of 2 million tonnes per year.
