NGEL Forges Strategic Green Energy Partnerships with GSPC and GPPL at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit

In a significant development at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has successfully executed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (GSPC) and Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. (GPPL). The three-day summit, inaugurated by Honโ€™ble Prime Minister on January 10, 2024, witnessed the exchange of these crucial agreements.

The MoU with GSPC was formalized in the presence of dignitaries such as Shri Gurdeep Singh (CMD, NTPC), Shri Milind Torawane (MD, GSPC), Honโ€™ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Honโ€™ble Minister of Finance, Energy & Petrochemicals (GoG), Dr. V K Saraswat (Member, NITI Aayog), and other high-ranking officials and international delegates. This strategic MoU focuses on the integration of Green Hydrogen into GSPC’s gas networks and the establishment of Green Hydrogen fuelling stations in Gujarat to promote Green Hydrogen mobility.

Another pivotal MoU was exchanged with GPPL between the General Manager-Hydrogen from NTPC and the Managing Director of APM Terminals, Pipavav. This agreement aims to create a comprehensive Green Hydrogen ecosystem, encompassing the production of Green Ammonia on land provided by GPPL for both export and the domestic market. Additionally, it explores the potential of Pipavav Port as an anchor port for NGEL’s exploration, development, and operations of offshore wind farms in Gujarat.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, NGEL is positioned as a key player in NTPC’s Renewable Energy journey, boasting an operational capacity of over 3.4 GW and a robust pipeline of 26 GW, including 7 GW currently under implementation.

GSPC, a major player in the Indian gas trading landscape, is actively involved in the exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas.

GPPL, backed by A.P. Mรธller โ€“ Mรฆrsk A/S, stands as one of India’s premier private ports, with a substantial handling capacity for containers, dry bulk cargo, liquid cargo, and automobiles.

This collaboration underscores the commitment of these entities to drive sustainable energy initiatives and propel the green energy landscape forward.
