Heliogen, Inc., a prominent AI-enhanced solar energy technology provider, has inked a joint development agreement with Omanor, focusing on building a concentrating solar power plant in Baja California Norte and Sonora, Mexico.
Heliogen and Omanor advanced through the initial phase, assessing a pre-approved site in Sonora, Mexico for their inaugural project. Following Phase 1, detailed cost analyses and feasibility studies will determine sizing and generation capacity. Omanor will aid Heliogen in preliminary site due diligence and securing initial energy customers. This partnership broadens Heliogen’s presence in the Mexican market, providing local expertise for large-scale projects. The region’s abundant solar resources and proximity to the Pacific Ocean make it conducive for industrial processes like desalination and hydrogen production.
โOur collaboration with Heliogen is a pivotal step in leveraging Mexico’s unique geographical advantages for renewable energy,โ said Daniel Suarez, CEO of Omanor. โThe synergy between recent renewable energy accelerating federal policies and Heliogen’s breakthrough concentrating solar technology promises to transform our rich solar landscapes into powerful, sustainable energy hubs. We are excited to embark on this journey and bring this visionary project to fruition.โ
โBy combining our innovative technology with Omanorโs regional expertise, we are poised to unlock the vast potential of Mexico’s solar resources to help decarbonize industry,โ added Christie Obiaya, CEO of Heliogen. โThrough this relationship, we pave the way for deployment of Heliogenโs clean energy solutions in Mexico while also stimulating local economies.โ
