For the first time in Israel, the Ministry of Transport and Finance is initiating a venture to deploy solar and energy storage systems for generating environmentally friendly electricity along a major highway.

This initiative will take place on Israel’s Highway Six, which spans the country from north to south. Under the project, the concessionaire will oversee the planning, licensing, and financing aspects, as well as the construction of the facilities and their connection to the electrical grid.

Additionally, they will be responsible for the ongoing operation and maintenance. The project encompasses the establishment of solar facilities spanning an approximate area of 250 acres, aiming to contribute around 100 megawatts to the electricity grid. The contractual agreement with the selected party is expected to extend for about 25 years.
