NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) achieved a significant milestone with the commercial operation declaration of its inaugural solar project in Chhattargarh, Rajasthan, boasting a capacity of 70 MW. This achievement contributes to the NTPC Group’s growing installed capacity, which now stands at 73,958 MW.
Currently, NTPC-REL is actively executing 17 projects, collectively surpassing a total capacity of 6,000 MW. This expansion solidifies the NTPC Group’s commitment to renewable energy, with the operational renewable capacity now reaching 3,448 MW.
During the declaration ceremony, Mr. Mohit Bhargava, CEO of NTPC REL, along with other officials, marked this momentous occasion.
The Chhattargarh Solar project, with a slated full capacity of 150 MW, is projected to be fully commissioned by March 2024. Secured under SECI-Tranche: III, this project serves as a testament to Rajasthan’s renewable energy initiatives.
Designed to produce 370 million units of energy annually, equivalent to powering 60,000 households, the project also promises substantial environmental benefits. It is estimated to curtail CO2 emissions by 3 lakh tons per year and conserve 1000 MMTPA of water, a sufficient supply for over 5000 households annually.
