In a significant step towards enhancing renewable energy capacities in Uttar Pradesh, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has partnered with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) through a Joint Venture Agreement. The collaboration, formalized in a ceremony at UPRVUNL’s Lucknow office on March 4, 2024, marks a pivotal move in supporting the green energy objectives of NTPC and the Government of India’s initiatives for an energy transition.

The agreement, signed by Shri S K Dutta, Director (Projects & Commercial) of UPRVUNL, and Shri V V Sivakumar, CGM of NGEL, in the presence of esteemed officials including Shri P Guruprasad, IAS, Principal Secretary (Revenue) of GoUP, and Shri Ranvir Prasad, IAS, MD of UPRVUNL, lays the groundwork for the development of renewable energy (RE) parks and projects across the state.

This joint venture aligns with the national agenda to increase the share of renewable energy in India’s power mix, contributing to the environmental sustainability goals and meeting the Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) of UPRVUNL. The generated RE power will significantly contribute to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy solutions in Uttar Pradesh.
