The Acting Governor of Taiz, Ahmed Amin Al-Massawi, received an update on Saturday regarding the advancement of a 507 kW hybrid solar power plant designed to operate 10 artesian water wells under the jurisdiction of the Local Corporation for Water and Wastewater.
During the briefing, Al-Massawi and Shura Council member Abdulaziz Al-Rumaymah were informed by the Director General of the Local Water Corporation, Mohammed Ibrahim, about the project’s components, which are supported by UNICEF and aimed at producing 2,500 cubic meters of water per day.
The Director highlighted the solar power plant’s benefits, emphasizing a 50 per cent reduction in diesel-based operational costs compared to conventional energy expenses.
The Acting Governor personally inspected the installation of two generators, each with a capacity of one and a half megabytes, funded by UNIPS. Additionally, he observed the progress of the construction of a three-thousand-cubic-meter assembly tank project, financially supported by UNICEF.
Emphasizing the importance of adhering to specifications and standards, Al-Massawi urged water project implementers to execute their responsibilities with integrity and sincerity.
Accompanying him were the Deputy Director General of the Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation, Hamami Al-Shalali, and a group of specialized engineers.
