SSE Renewables Teams Up with Fluence for Newest 150 MW / 300 MWh Project

SSE Renewables has announced Fluence as the main contractor and system supplier for its battery-based energy storage project at Fiddlerโ€™s Ferry, Warrington. Fluence, renowned for its energy storage technology, will provide the system utilizing the Gridstack platform known for its safety and reliability. With extensive global experience, Fluence is a trusted partner for SSE Renewables. Construction is slated to commence soon after SSE Renewables’ final investment decision.

OCU Energy, based in Stockport and collaborating with SSE Renewables on their Ferrybridge project, will serve as the principal contractor at Fiddlerโ€™s Ferry. The 150 MW / 300 MWh battery storage project, located at the former SSE-owned coal-fired power station at Fiddlerโ€™s Ferry, is expected to enhance energy management and balance supply and demand effectively once operational.

Richard Cave-Bigley, Director of Solar & Battery โ€“ SSE Renewables, said, โ€œWe are delighted to be working with OCU Energy once again, and to have Fluence as our battery storage system supplier at Fiddlerโ€™s Ferry.โ€
