
In a significant step towards international climate cooperation, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, held a meeting in Jeddah with H.E. Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan and President of the UN Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP 29).
The meeting focused on identifying opportunities for collaboration in climate action between the two nations. Both ministers emphasized the importance of joint efforts in achieving the goals outlined in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.
Central to the discussion were Saudi Arabia’s efforts and initiatives to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Minister Abdulaziz highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to utilizing renewable energy sources and implementing initiatives such as the Saudi and Middle East Green initiatives and the circular carbon economy approach. These national and regional programs aim to manage and reduce emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
The meeting underscored the mutual commitment of Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan to address climate challenges and work towards a sustainable future for all.
