European Union-Funded Photovoltaic System Inaugurated At Lebanon’s Ministry Of Industry, Enhancing Sustainability

The photovoltaic system at the Ministry of Industry, funded by the European Union and implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), was inaugurated by the caretaker Minister of Industry, Representative George Bushkian.

Present at the ceremony were Emmanuel Calenzi, the representative of UNIDO in Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria, Alessandra Fetzer, Head of the Cooperation Department at the European Union Delegation to Lebanon, Director General of the Ministry Engineer Chantal Akl, and officials from the Ministry, UNIDO, and the European delegation.

Representative Bushkian expressed his gratitude to the European Union and UNIDO for their support and efforts in implementing the photovoltaic system as part of the Circular Project funded by the European Union. He emphasized the significance of the system in helping the Ministry withstand Lebanon’s economic and financial crises by reducing reliance on expensive fossil fuels and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of computer servers vital for providing services to Lebanese industries.

Highlighting the environmental benefits of the program, Representative Bushkian stressed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting green industry and the circular economy. He expressed anticipation for continued collaboration with the European Union and UNIDO on future projects aimed at further enhancing the Lebanese industrial sector’s sustainability.
