In a significant development aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in the energy sector, His Excellency Dr Salem Falah Al-Hajraf, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, held a crucial meeting with Engineer Ahmed Al-Ibrahim, CEO of the Gulf Electricity Interconnection Authority, alongside other key leaders of the Authority.

The meeting focused on fostering collaboration between the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and the Gulf Electricity Interconnection Authority. Emphasizing the vital role of this partnership, discussions centered on enhancing the electrical network’s resilience across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, particularly during emergency situations.

One of the key agenda items was the review of ongoing and future projects undertaken by the Authority to expand the Gulf electrical interconnection system. Of particular significance was the discussion surrounding increasing the interconnection capacity among the six GCC countries.

In his closing remarks, Minister Al-Hajraf commended the significant efforts undertaken by the Gulf Electricity Interconnection Authority to ensure uninterrupted electrical energy supply to the GCC countries. The meeting underscored the commitment of both entities to furthering regional cooperation in the energy sector and enhancing the stability and reliability of the Gulf electrical network.
