Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s foremost renewable energy company, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 10,000 megawatts (MW) of operational portfolio. This achievement reinforces AGEL’s commitment to delivering reliable, affordable, and clean power to the national grid. The operational portfolio comprises 7,393 MW of solar capacity, 1,401 MW of wind capacity, and 2,140 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity.
Mr. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed pride in AGEL’s accomplishment, stating, “In less than a decade, Adani Green Energy has not just envisioned a greener future but has actualized it.” He highlighted the company’s swift progress from exploring clean energy ideas to achieving a remarkable 10,000 MW in installed capacity. Adani further emphasized AGEL’s ambition to facilitate India’s transition to clean, reliable, and affordable energy, with plans underway for the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda—a 30,000 MW project unprecedented on the global stage.
AGEL’s operational portfolio is projected to power more than 5.8 million homes and avoid approximately 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The company’s commitment to sustainable practices is evident, with its operating portfolio certified ‘single-use plastic free’, ‘zero waste-to-landfill’, and ‘water positive for plants with more than 200 MW capacity’.
Furthermore, AGEL’s contribution to India’s renewable energy goals is substantial, representing about 11% of the country’s installed utility-scale solar and wind capacity. The company’s achievements also extend to job creation, with over 3,200 direct green jobs generated.
AGEL is spearheading giga-scale development globally, with plans for the world’s largest renewable energy project of 30,000 MW at Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat. The project, spanning across 538 sq km, aims to energize a sustainable future while leveraging the collective capabilities of Adani Group entities and strategic partners.
With a steadfast focus on decarbonization and sustainable growth, AGEL’s accomplishments underscore its pivotal role in advancing India’s renewable energy landscape and contributing to global sustainability efforts.
