Energiequelle, an international project developer and operations manager, has recently inaugurated its office in Athens, marking its entry into the Greek renewable energy market. With prior activity in Greece, the company has now taken the strategic step to establish a dedicated branch in the southern European nation.
Polydoros Pagonis, appointed as Country Manager effective from November 1st, has been pivotal in spearheading the groundwork for the office launch. With extensive experience in renewable energy and a deep understanding of the Greek market, Pagonis expressed enthusiasm for supporting Energiequelle’s global expansion into Greece, citing the country’s favorable conditions for renewable energy development.
Greece, currently one of Europe’s fastest-growing economies, has set ambitious targets to phase out coal by 2028, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Notably, the country has already made significant strides toward these goals.
The establishment of the Greek branch marks Energiequelle’s sixth presence globally, following existing offices in Germany, France, Finland, Poland, and South Africa. Gregor Weber, Senior Vice President Project Management, hailed the development as a testament to the company’s ongoing international expansion strategy. He expressed confidence in the prospects of securing initial project successes in Greece and other recent markets entered since 2020.
