The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar modules. With the addition of 4,104 MW of new solar module capacity, the cumulative manufacturing capacity under ALMM now stands at an impressive 41,333 MW.
Key contributors to this expansion include Premier Energies and Grew Energy, which have added 1,320 MW and 1,150 MW respectively. Other notable additions to ALMM include ReNew (856 MW), Swelect HHV Solar Photovoltaics (474 MW), and Agrawal Renewable Energy (83 MW).
Moreover, Grew Energy, Solberry Energy, AG Solar Urja Udyog, and Total Solar Technologies have been newly enlisted in ALMM.
Waaree Energies stands out with 10,775 MW of its total manufacturing capacity of 12,000 MW being enlisted in ALMM, representing approximately 90% of its total capacity.
Several prominent players such as Adani Solar, Tata Power Solar, Goldi Solar, and Vikram Solar have individually enlisted capacities exceeding 1 GW, contributing to a collective 76% of the total cumulative module manufacturing capacity under ALMM.
However, the MNRE has also removed 465 MW capacity from ALMM. Despite this adjustment, the highest capacity module listed in ALMM remains at 655 Wp.
This announcement follows the MNRE’s implementation of the ALMM regulation, effective April 1, 2024. The Ministry has pledged to address delays beyond March 31, 2024, for projects caused by reasons beyond the developers’ control on a case-by-case basis.
