Dubai Electricity And Water Authority Champions Sustainability At World Future Energy Summit 2024

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is making significant strides in sustainable development as it participates in four panel discussions during the prestigious World Future Energy Summit. Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) from April 16 to 18, 2024, the event serves as a platform to accelerate sustainable development, promoting economic, social, and environmental advancements.

DEWA is showcasing its key projects and innovative initiatives in sustainability, renewable, and clean energy at its stand in Hall No. 5 (Energy Hall) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the importance of UAE’s leadership in renewable and clean energy investments and highlighted DEWA’s commitment to supporting sustainability initiatives.

DEWA aims to share its expertise in diversifying energy sources and increasing the share of clean energy in Dubai, aligning with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

On the first day of the summit, Mohamed Abdulkarim Al Shamsi, Chief Officer Climate Change and Sustainability at DEWA, participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Navigating a low carbon pathway to a just energy transition’, highlighting DEWA’s sustainability efforts.

On the second day, Mohammad Jame, Vice President – Clean Energy and Diversification at DEWA, discussed ‘Energy decarbonisation: Tripling installed renewables by 2030’, focusing on DEWA’s renewable energy efforts and developments in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

Dr. Hesham Ismail, Senior Manager – Technology Advancement and Demonstration at DEWA, participated in the Green Hydrogen Summit, emphasizing DEWA’s pilot Green Hydrogen Project at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the first project of its kind in the MENA region.

On the third day, Athbeh Al Shehhi, Senior Engineer – Climate Change and Sustainability at DEWA, participated in the Youth 4 Sustainability platform, highlighting DEWA’s efforts in empowering Emirati youth for sustainability leadership.

DEWA’s participation in the World Future Energy Summit underscores its commitment to driving sustainable development and promoting renewable energy solutions in the UAE and beyond.
