The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources received the green ammonia feasibility studies from the Jordanian Company, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed with the company in October 2023. In the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, Minister Al-Kharabsheh reiterated the vision of economic modernization, emphasizing the necessity of investing in green hydrogen production projects in Jordan to attract qualitative investments and strengthen the economic situation while reducing unemployment rates.
Minister Al-Kharabsheh underscored the Ministry’s dedication to serving investors in the energy and mining sectors, aligning with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Crown Prince. He praised the Ministry’s efforts in leading the movement towards Jordan’s export of green energy and making the country a regional center for the production and export of hydrogen.
Dr. Wael Suleiman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Green Ammonia Company, expressed gratitude to the Jordanian government for their efforts in accelerating the completion of the project studies. He highlighted the comprehensive presentation by Pawel Jarzewski, Executive Vice President of the Polish Hinfra Company, the Polish strategic partner, outlining the stages of establishing the project and the technology involved in producing green ammonia and hydrogen from desalinated seawater.
Jarzewski elaborated on the time frame and costs of establishing the project, emphasizing its potential to create direct and indirect job opportunities, contributing to sustainable economic development. Sharhabeel Madi, the company’s advisor, emphasized the economic impact of the project, highlighting its role in reducing unemployment and supporting economic sectors.
The memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Jordan Green Ammonia Company aims to develop green hydrogen projects in Jordan, with the project estimated to cost approximately $1.6 billion. It marks a significant step towards enabling Jordan to enter sectors utilizing green ammonia and hydrogen, attracting quality investments for the future.
