In a strategic move towards sustainable energy generation, Minas Gerais-based company Carvalho Energia Sustentável has diversified its portfolio by investing in hydroelectric and solar plants. The company’s expansion into solar energy follows the publication of Normative Resolution No. 482 by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), which set the rules for distributed generation (DG) in Brazil.

Carvalho Energia Sustentável’s solar venture, totaling 53 MWp of installed capacity, encompasses 15 plants located in Minas Gerais. Among these, five units are already operational, with an installed capacity of 18 MWp, while four plants are under construction and six are in the design phase. The company’s commitment to reliability and quality has led it to partner with Chinese company Longi, utilizing over 100,000 photovoltaic modules for its solar projects.

Felipe Carvalho, Executive Director of Carvalho Energia Sustentável and energy trading company ClickLivre, emphasizes the importance of selecting reliable suppliers for the company’s long-term success. Notably, one of Carvalho’s photovoltaic plants in northern Minas achieved significant energy production in March, underscoring the effectiveness of its investment in solar energy.
