Empowering Healthcare: GoShop And SANRU Bring Renewable Energy To The DRC

In an endeavor to bolster healthcare infrastructure and enhance medical services across the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), GoShop has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative in collaboration with SANRU, a prominent NGO dedicated to primary healthcare in rural areas. This pioneering project aims to provide a reliable source of energy to 82 Provincial Health Directorates, underscoring the crucial role of sustainable energy in advancing public health.

The cornerstone of this project’s success lies in the meticulous expertise of SANRU, which conducted a comprehensive assessment of the electricity requirements of each site. This meticulous evaluation facilitated the customization of GoShop electricity kits, comprising solar production units, storage systems, inverters, controllers, and VSat antenna feeds. Through this collaborative approach, tailored solutions were devised to precisely address the specific energy needs of each provincial health department, thereby maximizing the efficacy and relevance of the interventions.

The deployment of these energy solutions spanned from the urban hub of Kinshasa to the remote regions of Sankuru, Tshopo, Eastern Kasai, Central Kasai, Tshuapa, Lomami, and Kasai. By strategically targeting these underserved areas, the project aimed to optimize access to electricity, thereby bolstering healthcare provisions and fostering community well-being. Notably, the project aligns with GoShop’s steadfast commitment to sustainability and renewable energy utilization, culminating in tangible outcomes by December 2023, including a significant augmentation in the capacity of healthcare facilities to deliver quality care.

As the project nears its conclusion, both partners express optimism about the future prospects of their collaboration. They remain dedicated to transforming provincial healthcare in the DRC, embodying a shared commitment to fostering enduring impact and illuminating a healthier future for local communities.
