Energy Absolute PCL (EA) has forged a transformative partnership with the Government of Lao PDR (Lao PDR) by establishing a Super Holding Company, heralding a new era of sustainable energy initiatives in the region. This strategic collaboration aims to revolutionize the management and distribution of clean energy, accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, and propel Laos towards its ambitious vision of becoming the “Battery of Asia.”
Under the leadership of Mr. Somphote Ahunai, CEO of Energy Absolute PCL (EA), the Joint Development Agreement with the Government of Lao PDR marks a significant milestone in advancing clean energy infrastructure and fostering economic growth. The newly formed Super Holding Company will serve as a centralized entity overseeing the comprehensive management of clean energy resources and spearheading initiatives for integrated distribution and electric vehicle adoption.
The primary mission of the Super Holding Company is to holistically manage clean energy assets, facilitate overseas energy distribution through a Single Gateway framework, and spearhead investments in renewable energy projects. With the Government of Lao PDR as the principal shareholder and a dedicated professional management team, the Super Holding Company aims to catalyze economic reform, promote self-sufficiency, and drive sustainable development in the country.
Initially, the company will undertake several hydropower projects with a cumulative capacity exceeding 7GW, positioning itself as a key player in the renewable energy landscape. It will also oversee the exportation of total power energy and receive a supplementary 25-year concession period to further incentivize electric vehicle adoption and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Energy Absolute PCL (EA) will lead fundraising efforts targeting USD 1 billion to revitalize international reserves, reduce debt, and strengthen the local currency. Over the medium term, the company plans to develop value-added projects such as floating solar and energy storage systems while expanding its power export market and supporting electric vehicle infrastructure nationwide.
With its expertise in renewable energy and electric vehicle technology, EA is poised to assist the Government of Lao PDR in managing clean energy resources effectively and fostering new enterprises in the Green Economy. This partnership underscores a collective commitment to sustainable success and reinforces Laos’ strategic position as the “Battery of Asia.”
