The Ministry of Energy, Trade, and Industry is progressing with the preparation of a Grant Plan for hybrid energy storage systems in conjunction with Renewable Energy Sources (RES) projects. This initiative, part of the Just Transition Fund, follows the outcomes of a prior Public Consultation on the General Policy Framework for Energy Storage.
To refine and enhance the plan, the Ministry is conducting an Open Consultation with stakeholders. The primary goals are to gather recommendations based on the support plan for promoting RES combined with storage systems and to record suggestions for storage systems not covered in the current technical guide.
The Ministry of Energy, Trade, and Industry also announces that the Open Consultation, initially set to close on May 30, 2024, has been extended to June 14, 2024. This extension provides additional time for stakeholders to contribute their insights and recommendations.
Stakeholders are invited to submit their input until the new deadline. The Ministry may also organize an online presentation to elaborate on the Grant Plan at a later date.
For more details or to submit comments, interested parties can reach out via email. Relevant documents are available on the Single Service Service for Renewable Energy Sources website and the e-consultation portal.
This consultation marks a significant step towards advancing energy storage solutions, which are crucial for integrating renewable energy and ensuring a sustainable energy future for Cyprus.
