Further to its relevant Announcement of 27 May 2024, the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hellenic Energy Exchange (EnEx), which took place on Thursday, 30 May 2024, at the Presidential Palace of Cyprus.

This agreement falls within the broader strategy of the CSE to develop new activities, markets, products and services, with a focus on the particularly important and constantly evolving Energy sector, in which it has already developed significant operations.

In this context, the CSE successfully participates as a founding shareholder, since the end of 2019, in the Hellenic Energy Exchange (EnEx), through which it is given, amongst others, the opportunity to acquire substantial expertise and experience and exploit business opportunities that arise in the Energy sector.

Prior to the Memorandum signing ceremony, the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Energy Exchange held its regular monthly meeting exceptionally at the CSE’s offices in Nicosia.

The event of the signing of the Memorandum took place in the presence of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Energy Exchange, the Deputy Minister to the President, Mrs. Irene Piki, and the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Charalambos Charalambous.

The implementation of this initiative further expands the collaboration between the CSE and the Hellenic Energy Exchange. In particular, the agreement on the Origin Certificates aims to enable the use of funds from the disposal of such certificates, which have been under-utilised over time, and their allocation to renewable energy sources, as part of the green transition and the efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change.
