Iberdrola, Europe’s largest electricity company by market capitalization, valued at around 80 billion euros, has issued a green bond for 335 million Swiss francs (350 million euros) in two tranches of four and seven years, with interest rates of 1.38% and 1.56% respectively.
This issuance, the company’s first in Swiss francs since 2012 and its first green bond on this market, leverages the Swiss Central Bank’s recent rate cut. The funds will finance green projects under the Iberdrola Framework for Green Finance, coordinated by UBS and Deutsche Bank. The market’s confidence is reflected in the company’s 41 billion euro investment plan for 2024-2026, focusing on electricity grids and renewables.
