The Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced amendments to the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Supply Code. These changes aim to simplify and improve regulations for residents and businesses in the state.
The new amendments specify the minimum and maximum contract demands for various supply voltages. For 230 volts, the minimum contract demand is set at 5 kW, with no specified maximum. For 440 volts, the maximum contract demand is up to 200 HP or 150 kW. Higher voltage levels, such as 11 KV, 33 KV, 132 KV, and 220 KV, have their own specified minimum and maximum contract demands, ensuring clarity and structure in electricity supply.
One notable addition to the regulations is the provision for consumers wishing to install rooftop solar PV systems up to 10 kW. For these installations, no technical feasibility study is required. If the contract demand of the consumer is less than the capacity of the solar plant, it will be deemed to have been enhanced to match the solar capacity. This change simplifies the process for consumers and promotes the adoption of rooftop solar systems. Additionally, consumers will need to deposit additional security as per the provisions of the Supply Code.
Another significant update allows non-domestic consumers to avail separate LT/HT connections for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. This regulation facilitates the setting up of EV charging infrastructure, supporting the growth of electric mobility in the state.
These amendments reflect the Commission’s commitment to adapting regulations to modern needs, promoting renewable energy, and supporting the transition to electric vehicles. The changes are set to come into effect upon their publication in the official Gazette, extending their applicability across the entire state of Chhattisgarh.
The amendments aim to make it easier for residents and businesses to comply with electricity regulations, fostering a more efficient and sustainable energy environment. The Commission continues to evolve its policies to meet the changing demands and technological advancements in the energy sector, ensuring that the regulations remain relevant and beneficial for all stakeholders.
