The Cabinet has greenlit AMEA Power’s proposal, part of the UAE’s Al Nowais Group, to expand its renewable energy projects by the summer of 2025.
The expansion plan includes adding 500 megawatts of solar power following the completion of the current Abydos Solar Power project, which has a 500-megawatt capacity.
Furthermore, the national electricity grid will see an increase of 1,500 megawatts from new solar and wind projects. This includes a 1,000-megawatt solar power project and a 500-megawatt wind power project, along with the deployment of a battery storage system.
