Independent renewable energy producer Technique Solaire has announced the signing of a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Air France group. The agreement, covering over 13 GWh/year, will supply the airline with renewable solar energy at a stable and competitive long-term price.

The electricity will be produced from two ground-mounted solar parks. The first park, located in Saint Priest Taurion (87), has an installed capacity of 5 MWc and will begin its PPA in 2025. The second park, with a capacity of 6 MWc, will be operational by 2026 and is located in Pouillรฉ (86). Combined, these installations will generate 13 GWh/year, equating to approximately 10% of Air Franceโ€™s annual building energy consumption.

This contract marks Technique Solaireโ€™s first PPA in France, following a similar agreement in India in 2021 with the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). The company aims to accelerate its growth through this economic model, which supports companies in decarbonizing their energy supply. Technique Solaire aspires for such contracts to account for up to 50% of its electricity production by 2030.

PPAs are seen as a catalyst for the energy transition, offering significant benefits for all parties involved. They promote the construction of new solar plants across France and Europe, providing buyers with price stability and access to renewable energy. Producers, in turn, gain secure investments in plant projects and improved sales planning.

โ€œWe are very pleased to have concluded this PPA with the Air France group,โ€ said Thomas de Moussac, co-founder and Managing Director in charge of development, and Clรฉment Blaizot, Director of Innovation at Technique Solaire. โ€œWe intend to replicate this type of contract as we believe in the relevance and potential of this economic model to accelerate the energy transition. These agreements will be powerful levers in achieving Technique Solaireโ€™s goal of 4 GWc by 2030.โ€
