Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd., a leading Indian pharmaceutical company, along with its subsidiary Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Limited, has signed a significant 22.78 MWp DC Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Sunsure Energy, a major player in India’s renewable energy sector. This new agreement will provide Emcure and Gennova with approximately 36 million units of clean, renewable energy annually for their manufacturing facilities in Pune.
The PPA is set to meet around 67% of the power needs for these plants with green energy and will help offset approximately 29,765.71 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. This move marks a substantial advance in Emcure’s commitment to sustainability.
As part of the agreement, Emcure and Gennova will also enter into a Shareholders Agreement to acquire a stake in Sunsure Solarpark Twelve Private Limited, facilitating their solar power purchase under a group captive scheme in accordance with the Electricity Act, 2023 and related regulations.
Sunsure Energy will supply the power from its 150 MWp DC solar plant located in Solapur, Maharashtra. This agreement strengthens Emcure’s dedication to sustainability by integrating renewable energy into its operations and reducing its environmental impact.
